Billion Watts Completes PoC Construction of Integrated Solar-Storage-Charging Site for Chunghwa Telecom, Creating a Green Energy Demonstration Site

The solar-storage-charging demonstration site at Chunghwa Telecom Institute in Kaohsiung was delivered as a turnkey project by Billion Watts, integrating solar PV, energy storage, and EV charging facilities. With a solid track record of behind-the-meter (BTM) storage deployments, the company showcases strong integration capabilities and proven field experience in BTM energy applications.

As the most extensively covered telecommunications provider in Taiwan, Chunghwa Telecom has in recent years actively promoted the adoption of smart green energy systems at its operational sites to enhance energy independence and operational flexibility. The latest PoC project was established at Chunghwa Telecom’s Renwu Training Institute in Kaohsiung, integrating solar power, energy storage, and EV charging into a unified system. This initiative further validates the feasibility of multi-faceted green energy applications and their alignment with ESG goals. A Chunghwa Telecom official noted, “This PoC project not only helps us verify the feasibility of green energy integration at operational sites but also provides valuable experience to inform future multi-site applications.”


With rising electricity costs and growing demands for grid flexibility, behind-the-meter (BTM) energy storage and integrated energy systems have become crucial solutions for enterprises adopting green energy. This project, led by Billion Watts in system design and integration, successfully completed the PoC deployment of Chunghwa Telecom’s self-built integrated solar-storage-charging system at its Renwu Training Institute in Kaohsiung. The site integrates solar power, energy storage, and EV chargers into a fully operational microgrid demonstration site.


The project features a total installed solar capacity of 103.24 kWp, utilizing core MIT green energy solutions from the Billion brand—including Giga BNI 40-60K commercial PV inverters, Fusio One 100 kW/215 kWh modular energy storage cabinets, and 7 kW AC and 120 kW DC EV chargers. The system requires no large-scale construction and offers high flexibility for diverse site applications.

MIT-Made Equipment Delivered as an Integrated Solution to Support Flexible Deployment

The system is powered by solar energy during the day with surplus electricity stored. At night or during peak hours, it switches to storage discharge, effectively reducing electricity costs, avoiding high-tariff periods, and supporting EV charging needs. This design not only responds to fluctuations in energy prices but also aligns with the practical direction of energy transition.


Moreover, the project highlights the company’s technical strength in smart energy management and closely aligns with government policies aimed at enhancing behind-the-meter (BTM) resource dispatch and grid resilience. At the Kaohsiung Renwu Training Institute, the integrated solar-storage-charging system is paired with an EMS (Energy Management System) platform, enabling real-time monitoring, intelligent scheduling, and energy data visualization. The modular and scalable design allows for rapid deployment across multiple sites and supports future capacity expansion needs.

Seamless Team Execution Strengthens Behind-the-Meter Strategy

In this project, Billion Watts took full responsibility for the entire process—from system configuration planning, product design and manufacturing, factory testing and logistics, to site infrastructure, installation and commissioning, spare parts provisioning, and personnel training. The team demonstrated exceptional organizational coordination and engineering efficiency. All wiring, protection settings, metering, and grid interconnection procedures were completed in compliance with Taipower regulations, showing Billion Watts’ strong system integration capabilities and extensive on-site execution experience. This also reflects the company’s robust momentum in driving energy transition.


As of Q1 2025, Billion Watts has reached a total of 21 MWh in operational, under-construction, and contracted behind-the-meter storage projects, with an additional 80 MWh currently under negotiation. These projects span diverse applications in manufacturing, science parks, and commercial office spaces.
