With the government encouraging self-built energy storage, a central Taiwan hotel operator has installed Billion Watts energy storage cabinets to enhance power supply quality, reduce electricity costs, and create a space-efficient energy storage design with flexible dispatch capabilities.
Frequent typhoons this year have hit southwestern Taiwan hard, damaging solar-fishery sites and toppling or flooding power infrastructure. Grid outages lasting days have underscored the need for distributed grids and virtual power plants in extreme weather.
Billion Watts has completed more than a dozen behind-the-meter energy storage and solar-plus-storage-plus-charging systems for commercial and industrial clients across Taiwan. Applications span industries including semiconductors, printing, leisure and entertainment, textiles, retail, hospitality, and healthcare, with individual project capacities ranging from hundreds of kilowatts to the megawatt scale. Through peak–off-peak scheduling, self-consumption, and post-disaster backup, Billion Watts helps customers reduce costs and strengthen power supply resilience.
Solar-Storage-Charging and Microgrid Demonstrations Strengthen Regional Resilience
In Kaohsiung, New Taipei, and Miaoli, Billion Watts has established 'three-in-one' demonstration sites integrating solar PV, energy storage cabinets, and EV charging stations. In collaboration with partners, the company has also developed a school microgrid demonstration project that combines solar power, energy storage, and EV charging facilities, supporting both grid-connected and off-grid operation modes.
Under normal conditions, the microgrid increases the share of self-generated renewable energy. In the event of external grid damage or unexpected outages, it can maintain essential operations to ensure uninterrupted power for critical loads, thereby enhancing energy resilience. The system utilizes locally manufactured products and rapid installation methods, allowing flexible configurations tailored to different site requirements, and offers immediate after-sales support and operation & maintenance services."
Cross-Industry Deployment and Proven Benefits of Behind-the-Meter Energy Storage
In high-load manufacturing and semiconductor industries, behind-the-meter energy storage systems have been deployed to help regulate electricity costs while participating in demand response programs and Taiwan Power Company’s ancillary services. Working with the semiconductor sector’s stringent standards, Billion Watts supports customers in achieving RE100 commitments, reducing carbon emissions, and minimizing the use of diesel generators. In the textile industry, off-peak charging and peak-time discharging strategies effectively lower peak-period electricity costs, delivering both energy savings and participation in real-time spinning reserve markets. This approach secures additional ancillary service revenue, further reduces operating costs, and helps customers meet their ESG sustainability goals.
In department store, retail, and hospitality applications, Billion Watts’ modular commercial and industrial storage cabinets overcome limited space constraints to enable peak–off-peak optimization, suppress summer and nighttime demand peaks, prevent contract capacity overruns, and reduce penalties, ensuring compliance with large electricity consumer obligations. For healthcare facilities, energy storage systems ensure uninterrupted operation of critical medical equipment during power outages, balancing environmental sustainability with supply reliability.
“Under extreme climate conditions, energy infrastructure must address both renewable energy and resilience. Only distributed energy storage can ensure the continued operation of critical industries while creating long-term value,” said Billion Watts.

A semiconductor plant has adopted Taiwan-made Billion Watts energy storage cabinets, which can be flexibly expanded through multi-unit parallel connection to enhance energy utilization efficiency.
At the 'Green Technology: Smart Manufacturing in Action' seminar held on September 19 at the Kaohsiung Business Conference Center, Billion Watts will focus on the theme 'Carbon Reduction Challenges and Strategies × Sustainable Practices in the Green Supply Chain.' The company will share how the expansion of behind-the-meter energy storage and the integration of renewable energy applications can help industries address the dual challenges of energy transition and resilience, creating a stable, low-carbon, and economically beneficial power environment. Practical cases in commercial and industrial energy storage and energy management will also be presented.

At the seminar, Billion Watts shared practical applications of commercial and industrial energy storage and energy management, engaging in exchanges with industry experts to help enterprises gain a competitive edge in the energy transition.
